Tameka Franklin, LPC

Working with Children & Families

Working with children and adolescents was always my targeted population. After working in an inpatient and outpatient setting for over four years, the experience confirmed I thoroughly enjoy helping youth find their voice, manage their emotions, and communicate effectively.

I can assist in managing emotions as well as helping youth identify and understand their emotions. If your child or teen is having difficutly with trauma, anger management including verbal or physical agression, self-esteem, parent-child relationship and/or family conflict, communication skills, anxiety, depression, substance use, bullying, grief, stress management, or interpersonal skill building then I just may be the therapist to meet your needs.

Working with Adults

I also enjoy workign with adults aiming to improve their day to day life. I strive to be supportive, direct, warm, and humorous personally and professionally.

Incorporating these characteristics into my practice, the end goal would be for my clients to be able to cope with life’s challenges. We will work on the use of effective communication and tools to manage your emotions without intensifying situations.  I excitedly look forward to working with you.

Outside the Office

When I’m not working with clients I enjoy spending time exercising, gardening, dining, watching movies, shopping, and spending time with my family and friends. I did not see myself as one who would like to plant flowers but it`s very relaxing and calming to me and I enjoy seeing the growth. Self-care is equally important for a counselor as it is the client in which I`m providing services to. Fitness is one of my values; therefore, I am a regular at a gym or running outside. I have a large supportive humorous family and they definitely help with my self-care in more ways than one. I make it a goal to engage in at least one of these one a weekly basis.
