Working with Children & Families

I work primarily with older teens and young adults who are navigating major life transitions and facing new complications in relationships, school, and family life.

Many of my teen clients come to me experiencing depression, anxiety, social isolation, and conflict with parents and peers. I help teens process difficult emotions, reframe unhelpful thought patterns, and build skills for healthier relationships and improved coping.

Having worked in mental healthcare for years, I’m passionate about guiding teens from feelings of hopelessness to envisioning a positive future. I help teens embrace their emerging identity, including sexual orientation, even when it conflicts with family values.  I want teens to leave therapy able to connect with others, think before acting, and utilize healthy coping mechanisms.

Working with Families

During my training, I discovered a love for working with families and helping them connect again and work through conflict. Security and safety in relationships is something I want to help families and individuals achieve. I love using experiential techniques like family games to foster connection and reveal relationship dynamics. My sessions involve plenty of conversation but also skills training to handle emotions rationally rather than reactively. I’m trained in attachment-based models and parent coaching for times when the family unit needs healing.

If you’re a teen feeling misunderstood or you’re a parent worried about your child’s wellbeing, I would be honored to help your family restore compassion and find your path forward. Although it’s vulnerable, taking the first step toward counseling can make all the difference

Outside the Office

In my free time, I write poetry, spend time with my daughter, and relax watching TV. As a therapist, I know the importance of caring for my own mental health as well. I’m working towards becoming a sex therapist to also help couples and individuals with sexual concerns down the road.
