Working with Women
As a woman myself, I enjoy supporting other women struggling with all of the big life transitions. Divorce, fertility issues, adjustment to motherhood or to having an empty nest, parenting, aging, or loss often bring women to my door.
I meet you where you are and offer compassion, practical solutions, and support to build resilience. I can help you understand and change the story of your life, heal from hurts, and move forward.
Parent-Child Relationships
With parents, I encourage them to talk openly about the hard stuff with their kids. I teach them how to talk to youth effectively and also, how to listen.
One approach I use to help nurture the parent-child relationship is Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). This is a very effective tool to help parents build a loving bond with their child and increase cooperation. This approach is great for tantrums, defiance, and aggression. Recently, a parent who was participating in PCIT said to me “It is so refreshing to enjoy spending time with my son again!”
Helping Teens
I love to support parents and teens in improving communication, building trust, and reducing conflict. Teens I work with know I’m in their corner, but still dedicated to helping them be understood by their parents. My approach encourages youth to self-reflect on their strengths. I support them in developing their own goals, guiding the path of therapy, to help them feel ownership and investment in the process.
I’m especially passionate about supporting teens struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, and stress. I teach them tools to relax, manage stress, face their fears, tame worries, and lift mood. I’m a listening ear for teens struggling with peer pressure, bullying, grades, and family issues.

How I Got Here
My career in clinical social work began through friendships I developed in junior high and a writing assignment about our future careers. I recently came across that assignment and was reminded that at the ripe old age of 11 I knew I wanted to work with children and families in some capacity.
I pursued my Master of Social Work degree at the University of Houston and after graduating, I began working with teens in crisis. For the past 20 years, I have been living my dream of practicing psychotherapy.
Outside the Office
I am originally from a small town in northwest Indiana but have been in Texas for many years and it feels like home. I have a large extended family including 20 cousins! Many of my family members are educators or work in the medical field, so being in a “helping” profession is second nature to me. During football and basketball season, you’ll find me rooting for my alma mater, University of Houston. Go Cougars!! I have a secret fantasy of moving to the Italian Coast and soaking up all the amazing Italian food and wine.
