Working with Children, Adolescents & Families

I’m passionate about helping children, especially those under the age of 12, navigate through various challenges they face, such as anxiety, emotional regulation issues, and impulsivity. I have a special place in my heart for children and teenagers on the autism spectrum, aiming to address their unique needs and assist them in understanding social cues and regulating emotions.

When clients first come to me, they often are experiencing distress that impacts their daily functioning, whether in school or in making friends. Parents are usually concerned, seeking ways to understand and help their children. My approach to therapy is child-centric, focusing on understanding each child’s perception and tailoring evidence-based treatments to their language and experiences. Some of my favorite interventions include Mind Over Mood and Coping Cat for individual settings, and Zones of Regulation and the PEERS manual for group settings.

Working with You and Your Family

For those considering therapy for the first time, I believe it’s essential to understand your goals and be open about what you wish to achieve. Therapy can be truly effective, and I aim to work with you to focus on your goals. After working with me, my hope is for my clients and their families to experience less distress and have the necessary skills to navigate previously challenging situations. I’ve seen firsthand how therapy can enable children to overcome specific phobias and improve social interactions, making the journey incredibly rewarding.

In every session, I strive to make therapy a beneficial and enriching experience, ensuring that the child can apply the learned skills when facing difficulties. Witnessing families able to enjoy activities together, kids making new friends, and seeing the alleviation of distress in their lives are some of the rewarding moments that fuel my passion.

Outside the Office

I enjoy reading and exploring the outdoors with my goofy black lab. Despite being new to Texas, we’re on the lookout for places to hike and explore. Balancing work and personal time is important to me, and I always make time for a good chapter of a book and a breath of fresh air.
